Barbershop is a buzzword and many people think that it is synonymous with hairdressing,although this is not entirely true. If you translate literally from English,then of course:Barber is a "hairdresser",and Shop is a "store". But in modern Russian,Barbershop is called only men's hairdressing salons,and the hairdressers themselves are completely male.
